Career 101: Work Smarter or Work Harder?
It’s the last month of the year. A lot of us are currently at that stage of our lives where we’re currently deciding what path should we take, choosing the right job and making plans for the future. There’s just so much uncertainties that it’s that stage where anxiety, fear and self-doubt creeps in. Of course, we all want to be successful in what we choose and if you ask me, based on what I’ve observed, the reason why successful people become successful is because they’ve decided that working harder and smarter is the way to go. The reason why I’m writing this is because I want people to realize the importance of being smart and hardworking in facing the reality of life.
As a current full-time blogger, I can’t deny that I’m still struggling to choose the right path for me. I still have so many dreams that I want to accomplish and thinking where to start is harder than it looks. Recently, I’ve read a lot of articles about whether to work smart of work harder. A lot of important questions have been raised and in my opinion, choosing whether to work harder, work smarter or choose both is very critical in your journey to success but of course, it’s not something you just decided and do overnight. You’re bound to stumble and get rejected, you’re bound to make a lot of mistakes but that’s okay because that’s where you learn that being smart and hardworking will really pave the way for success. Samuel Beckett did say, “Fail, Fail Again. Fail Better”.
On another note, let’s not forget that your ambitions are the catalyst to your success. Successful people become successful by wanting to be successful. Your vision of where or who you want to be is the greatest asset you have today. I also struggle with other things but I do try to keep my self motivated. There will be times where your motivation and your ambition will waver. If you do experience this, remind yourself why you wanted this and why you started.
As of today, I can’t deny that I’m still struggling to choose the right path for me. Despite all that, I think I’ve decided to become a full-time blogger until next year. It’s fun and exciting yet it’s still a matter of taking risks and facing problems and challenges. This year, I’ve learned that in life the progress you make every single day can always have a big impact on your career and to yourself. You can continue on the same path and arrive at a different direction. Your past was never a mistake if you learned from it. Make the choice to have your actions reflect your goals
So what’s your decision, to work hard, work smart or both?
